snapshot: finding normal

I have officially begun the work of freelancing full-time.  No more safety net.  Figuring out a new normal.  Exciting.  Scary.  All the things.

outfit: late spring in solvang

sweater - charlotte russe (old), t-shirt - gap (similar), skirt - zaful, shoes - american eagle outfitters, belt - amazon, glasses - warby parker, necklace - enchanted leaves

With both my siblings completing their respective conservatory programs, it has been a season of graduations, and last weekend my family and I drove up the coast of California to celebrate my sister's.  We spent the late afternoon and evening in Solvang for dinner and my lovely sister snapped these pics.  I do wish she would have pointed out that my belt had come unclasped! But - you know what, life isn't perfect, and really at the end of the day, who cares.  It was a lovely day in a lovely little town with my family and friends, so I guess there is nothing really worth complaining about. :)

Also I bought this skirt on a whim, it being my first purchase from Zaful - and I love it so much! It is such a beautiful color and print, and so easy to wear - and best of all - under $20!

wishful wednesdays #2

Despite being born and raised in Los Angeles, I have always preferred cold, rainy weather.  However, I am doing my best to embrace the warmth that has come with the end of April and beginning of May.  If I can have it my way, I will be living in skirts and dresses until September.  I especially love that mint green gingham printed midi skirt.  I may try to make that into a sewing project!
1 - bear t-shirt, 2 - floral skirt, 3 - dalmatian pants, 4 - origami butterfly necklace, 5 - cat socks, 6 - bicycle, 7- black flats, 8 - black/white striped cat sweater

My wishlist this week ended up having way more animal-printed items than I planned, but I can't help it! I am a sucker for a cute animal.  And by the way, if you are too, you should definitely go follow the instagram account @cutepetclub.  It is a never-ending parade of cuteness!  Also, I am OBSESSED with those Dalmatian pants from Paul and Joe Sister.  If only I had the money to throw down for them. That print is so wonderful!  Our family dog when I was growing up was a dalmatian named Elmo. We got him as a puppy when I was a baby, so I have always had a special love in my heart for them.

adventure: dancing in the street

blouse - forever21 (old), necklace, skirt, - vintage, balboa shoes - remix, orchid - vintagebox1947

Blog - I would like to formally introduce you to my best friend Keegan.  This is a little bit of a throwback post, because we did this photoshoot a while ago, but I couldn't resist sharing a few of the shots we got.  Sometimes you just have to get dressed up and dance in the street.  Keegan and I have been dancing together since 2012, and have been best friends for just as long! He is not only an amazing dancer, but a talented photographer, filmmaker, storyteller, and a generally awesome human. I am so blessed to have someone who is down to dance, hang out, or talk with about anything and who, despite life's ups and downs, continues to stick with me through it all.

A special shoutout to our amazingly talented photographer and good friend Ben Z whose work you can check out here.

adventure: dapper day disneyland outing 2017

pin up girl amanda dress, modcloth shoes (old), vintage box 1947 orchids, retro disneyland pin (dapper day expo vendor)
My first Dapper Day was a success! There is nothing like the happiest place on earth, and walking around seeing everyone dressed to the nines makes the day that much more magical.  There is something a little bit transcendent about so many men, women, and kids expressing themselves through fashion in the park. And because not everyone is dressed up, it feels like you are sharing a special secret with the other dapperly dressed people as you walk by each other.  It is a culture of that embraces the nostalgia of Disneyland and the creativity that the park inspires!

The expo was beautiful and full of super cool vendors, where I got the sunglasses and the pin I wore to the outing.  After spending some time in the convention center on Saturday, I spent Sunday out in the park.  The first half of the day my mom, my sister Chloe, and I walked around - meeting characters, people-watching, and eating our favorite Disney snacks.  Later on, we met up with some friends and spent the rest of the evening going on rides, shopping, and eating some more! You can catch some of our shenanigans in the video below!

outfit: down the rabbit hole

dress - unique vintage (similar), belt - trashy diva (old), shoes - remix
The drought has ended in California, and spring is in full force in my little neighborhood.  After the rainy winter season, the weather as of late has been a perfect Southern California crisp and sunny springtime. The flowers are blooming so beautifully everywhere I look, so I thought I would join them.  I got this dress at one of Unique Vintage's amazing sales last year, and it has since become my go-to springtime dress!  Between the flowers and the pale blue, I felt a bit like Alice in Wonderland exploring an overgrown garden.  I hope everyone has had a Happy Easter, Passover, or just general springtime fun!
